Money does too grow on trees…technically!!!
But that is NOT the fact you want to forward your event on. Money is precious, time is precious and saving both at the same time is priceless!
Let’s just get right to it. Budgeting is the most beneficial burden you could ever bear in the world of event planning. How you spend your money is atrongly attached to how you will spend your time in the planning process.
Because of this JEADL would like to formally introduce, reintroduce and suggest to you our dear friend Excel. Actually, any spreadsheet format will do for a basic budget.
Included in this budget spreadsheet, make sure there is a FIRM maximum established for overall expenses. Break this amount down to firm maximums for categories you will spend on…such as:
Printing Dining Decor Venue, etc.
Easy right…well maybe at first glance. The real task is to STICK TO THE PLAN. If you haven’t already read it, here’s a synopsis of our previous blog…proper planning prevents poor performance.
If you can make a plan, or in this case a budget and stick to it. You can alleviate a lot of bumps along the road to execution. The biggest mistake planners make, both DIYers and pros, is mismanaging, ignoring or flat out refusing a budget.
We actually have our own horror story about this very issue. Maybe we’ll share it next time. But for now, we’ll just share this…an example of a small dinner party budget. Minus the actual dinner part! 👀 Leave a comment below to let us know if the numbers surprise you or didn’t phase you at all. Have you planned a small dinner party? Was it less or more?!
